    March 15, 2015

Dear Caregivers, Participants and Concerned Community Members,

Shauna Severo, the Assistant Director of Patient Care Services, Fairfax County Health Department, who oversees the Adult Day Health Care Centers, has recommended to the County that the Annandale Adult Day Health Care Center be closed to help close the budget gap. That means the county will have closed two of its Centers over the past few years, leaving only four.

The Associates, the volunteer board representing the program and its participants and caregivers, do not believe that this is the right thing to do. We are mounting an urgent, immediate campaign to save Annandale and potentially save all the Centers.

We are hoping that everyone who agrees will write to or call the Supervisors, as well as Pat Harrison and Shauna Severo, and show up to speak and/or support others at the community budget hearings as well as at the County hearings.

There is great power in numbers, and there is even greater power in personal appeals. Let the supervisors know how this will affect you, your loved ones, your neighbors and the quality of life for everyone in the County. Ask your friends, relatives, neighbors to join the campaign – use social media, personal contacts – any way possible to ensure the Supervisors and Pat and Shauna understand how important this is!

Please click below to access the following important documents:
    · A draft version of a letter to send to ALL of the Supervisors. Feel free to use this version; it would be best if you could personalize it with your own stories/reasons for wanting ALL the Centers to stay open.
    · An alternative version of the letter with some different information. This is the letter the Associates sent to the Supervisors.
    · Contact information for all the Supervisors as well as for Shauna and Pat. Please write, call, and go in to talk to them.
    · A list of all the budget hearings – those held by the Chairman, the individual Supervisors and the County hearings – the county hearings in April are the ones where you can testify if you wish.
    · A membership and donation form. Please join if you haven’t already, and donate generously to the Associates. We are pledging $10,000 to the County to help in marketing IF they keep the Annandale Center open. We need everyone’s support to meet this pledge. If we do not succeed, the monies will be used to support the remaining Centers by providing funds for special recreational programs, music therapy, field trips, etc.

Thank you so much for everything you do! Let’s hope together we can SAVE The CENTERS!
